nothing incredibly interesting happened at school today.....except that my chem teacher didn't show up so we had a sub. he was irish and had the accent. i've never heard an irish person speak in person before so it was cool listening to it (i like hearning accents O.O; i know that's weird). but it made me realize i really have had alot of foreign teachers in my school history:
* i had an italian miss poporino in grade school
* my econ teacher last semester was german
* last semester, my precal teacher was from england and she sounded exactly like bert from mary poppins...with a feminine voice of course. she said 'woi' for 'why' and she said 'remainda' and 'winder' i don't know why she just couldn't say remaindER since she could say it with window/windER
* my chem teacher is from england and was a weatherman in london for many years. he says 'laboortry' for 'laboratory' he's got a heavy accent though...it keeps me interested in class
* today's chem sub was irish
and oh yea...
i got rear ended on the way back to school today (we got out of chem way early so i went home for a spell). it scared me more than anything and i think the other guy was more scared cus i saw him in my rearview mirror go F*CK! and i worried about a dent so when i got to the next red light, i ran outta my car and luckily there was no dent or even a mark so he said sorry and i went along my merry way.
question of the day: DO YOU HAVE ANY WEIRD HABITS?
i have a few.
1) i don't stir my chocolate milk until the chocolate has sunk.
2) if i get a meal like broccoli shrimp from chinese express, i have to put an EQUAL number of broccoli on my plate as i do shrimp. that way when i eat it, i can do so in like a pattern ... haha and there's none leftover. *shrugs* i can't remember when i started doing that.
3) i always go up and down stairs starting on my right foot...always. i didn't notice it til i was about to walk up the stairs a couple months ago and had to take a halfstep so that my next step on the stairs would fall on my right food

today was the first day for my bio and chem labs. i went to school for 2 classes but it lasted 6 hours too long.
in chemistry, i learned how to use a fire blanket, a shower, a sink, and i also learned how to use a buret and a pair of tongs. i also learned about different containers like a beaker, graduated cylinder, an erlenmeyer flask, and a funnel.
in biology, i releared every item i'd just sat 3 hours listening to. oh yea, and i also learned how to weigh a dry erase marker on a triple beam balance. we also spent about an hour going over converting things from centimeter to meter....kilogram to gram..so on and so forth. and some people did not understand how to add and subtract numbers with a negative...so we spent another 15 minutes explaining why 2-(-3) was 5 and not -1.
mr. v: ok everyone....THIS...is a meter stick....a yard stick is just a liiiitlle shorter.
ok class, that about finishes things up. if you want to take a little extra time after class and get yourself familiar with the balance and the meter stick, i've got cups and markers and all SORTS of things you can measure or weigh!
30 min later:
mr. v: remember, some test questions will be more from past knowledge. (AS IF ALL THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN PAST KNOWLEDGE?!). you'll have questions like (and he expected the class to tell him the answer)...
'how many in. in a ft?' 'TWELVE!!'
'how many feet in a mile?' (me sounding really tired)'5280'...(same girl who didn't think 2-(-3) was 5 laughs to herself and goes "HoW sHe KnOw ThA'" .ignorant. and people who do it on purpose. RAWR

i wanted to take my pencil and poke myself in the eye!
my gosh, for 6 HOURS i sat through these 3 hour labs where they talked to us like second graders. half of our first test in bio is what we went over today. i should've done what dana did and take a placement test....i took all the science classes stratford offerend in the time i was there....good grief, i shouldn't be in this class!! grrrrr
i kept thinking back to bio2 last year and remembering the conversation cory and i had with our teacher the very first day. she had handed out a list of things we should be able to name for the pig practical at the end of the year and we were asking her the names we didn't recognize.
THAT was an exciting first day. i learned. i miss learning about science.
elaine said her bio class was hard. i am going to be so ill prepared once i go to usc next semester.
hey if i look on the bright side, there's 1 A i'll have in a core class...and that always looks good.

wow i just realized the new speakers dad installed last night for the computer picks up stations outside the house. i thought i was going crazy cus i could hear music in the static...like the guy who studies white noise....but i DO hear music! i HEAR IT! the right speaker is on like a hit 90's station and the left speaker is on a country station

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
the last couple days have been soooo hectic! Wednesday, i was working at bath and body works and was supposed to stay 11:30 til 3:30, take a 30 min. lunch break, then go work at gap 4-9. well that didn't happen because at about 2:45, i passed out while i was working. got overheated. :-( i was fine then i started getting really hot, then my skin felt cold and clammy, things went blurry, i got nautious.....then i fell, got up and went to the bathroom. i was in there for about 40 minutes and no one came to check on me. i passed out and when i finally came to, i had a big red mark on my forehead from leaning on the toilet and when i came out and called my mom to come pick me up (cus there was no way i could drive), my manager finally asked me if i was ok. followed by asking me if i had a hangover. laughing about it all. then tori said something about she was tired and wanted to go home, and the same manager said 'you should pull a melissa!' and tori pretends to faint saying 'ohhh i'm dizzy!!'
insensitive people. all the girls i work with there are snobby..mean..and insensitive.
and they curse like sailors.
the whole experience is so opposite of what i get at gap.
so anyways, it was past 3:30 and i knew i couldn't make it to gap and work til 9. working 9 hours with no breakfast or lunch.....wasn't going to happen.
unfortunately, i missed a really awesome event. cynthia came up between me and tori when we were on the register and told us to make sure to take the splash out of a giftset the man with the doorag was buying. he was in line and i wanted to see him get busted by one of the cashiers.
too bad i passed out before it happened!!!
hmm.......what else? yesterday, i was at both stores again....6AM til 2 at gap. 3-7 at b&bw. as long as 13 hours sound lol it actually went by fast! and it really got me in the mood for christmas and midnight mass at church. we did christmas with the family at g-ma and g-pa's last night, and then christmas in our home this morning. got lots of good stuff!
we (the flute choir) played before mass as always. church didn't let out til 1:30 so i didn't wanna wake eric up (sorry!!). after we all finished opening presents, i went back to bed lol. i didn't get alot of sleep yesterday considering i woke up at 5AM to get to work at 6 and i was up wrapping presents til 3 in the morning haha. i couldn't even keep my eyes open anymore this morning, but now i feel refreshed!
so now, i'll ask a question like i almost always do....

China held a beauty pageant for those who have all undergone plastic surgery. Now I thought the reason for beauty pageants were to show real personality and natural beauty, and above all, self confidence. Doesn’t a plastic surgery contest defeat the whole purpose of a pageant?
"I'm not here for a prize," said Liu, who was wearing a formfitting carmine Mandarin-collar dress with silver beading. "I want to show my attitude of my heart, my self-confidence."
"Becoming beautiful is the wish of everyone," said Liu, who was wearing a strapless turquoise dress. "I am now legally a woman and this contest is my first formal step toward womanhood."
I read that line and thought…legally a woman? Womanhood?? Eeeeh what??
Liu, who hadn't told organizers that she was a transsexual because no one had asked, revealed that she used to be a man on Sunday in front of reporters. Han said Liu's case was being discussed and no decision had been made on whether she still qualified as a contestant.
"If they disqualify me, I will use legal means to seek fairness," said Liu, who has also had work done on her eyebrows, nose, chin and facial shape. "This is a turning point in my life."
wow....that is quite interesting. So "she" is the one in the strapless turquoise dress. When I first saw the pic, I thought "she" was the prettiest one!
Because this contest is all about changing your image, I think he...err.. she is gonna win, I know it -_-

erik and i were discussing things on our christmas wishlist and he really couldn't come up with anything to ask anyone for. then i thought...well you should ask for food for the fridge if you don't want anything material. he said he just wanted money. and that gave me the idea for the perfect gift for any college student living away from home.
WalMart giftcard
..it makes sense. the needed money from parents usually goes to buy gas, food, and bathroom/dorm/apt stuff...walmart= gas (at some walmarts), inexpensive food AND bathroom/dorm/apt supplies. so next year when i'm asked by family members what i need, i'll tell them stuff for the apt. because malnourishment is a bad thing.

a commercial for an upcoming 'date my mom' episode (on mtv) showed a foreign mom who, when asked "what celebrity does your daughter look like", answered "Chris Farley"
i started laughing soo hard... haha i don't think she understood the question

while studying for my psych final, i was catching up on some tv (haha yes i know, not the best way to study but that's how i do it sometimes), and saw a few movies coming out soon that i might see...
A Series of Unfortunate Events- Lemony Snicket- has anyone heard/read these books?
the commercial makes the movie look a magical journey like alice in wonderland where things are not as they appear and really bizarre things happen to the characters. it looked interesting and i caught the author's name so i went to go see if it was a book and it is! that link is to the 11 book series and the movie is going to be of the first 3 books. but there is a separate book that follows the movie exactly. the site lets you read the first chapter of each book and so i read the first chapter of the first 3 books...and i must say, the first 2 look not so hot, but the 3rd looks pretty interesting. more of what i thought the movie would be like. the books are probably geared towards elementary students who read well though. hopefully the movie is good....it has jim carrey so it should be.

that movie looks exactly like the 13th ghost. even the setting...old dark house, dead people trying to reach a final number so something evil will occur. then the "mom" talks to her daughter, and she says you're not my mother....stangely similar to The Others. and even in 13th ghost, the mom tries to get the son to follow her..just like in this commercial i just saw.
only for this movie, they need 7 children, not 13 people who died in certain ways. and the title is almost like darkness falls........except i never saw that movie so i dunno what it's about...
what is that about anyways?

holy moly guys!!
matt and i were just talking about this yesterday...about ken jennings
i told him i didn't even know if ken was still on the show cus i haven't watched in a few weeks, but i tuned in today, and of course he was
... and tonight he lost :-0 :-(
mum thinks he was either told to lose or he chose to on his own. she said he's been on a few talk shows saying "well i feel like my winning streak is about to end soon" and stuff like that. either he was being modest of his winning, or he was hinting at something. we also both agree that he was missing alot more tonight, alot more than usual. perhaps he made himself nervous because he's been winning for so long. or perhaps it was just time for producers to tell him we need a new face.
either way, ken jennings, YOU ROCK!
